How is your motorcycle's value calculated?
Same principle as a professional price guide: start from the new list price and apply transparent coefficients for every criterion that drives the second-hand price of a motorcycle or scooter. Every coefficient is shown in the report.
The 6 criteria
New price
The list price for the model year. A used motorcycle is valued as a percentage of that price — the base of the whole calculation.
Brand and category
Adventure bikes and 125s are in high demand and depreciate slowly; sport bikes wear faster and cost more to maintain. BMW, Ducati, Harley, Triumph or Vespa hold value better than entry-level brands.
Year
−10 to −18% in the first year, then a slowing curve. After 10 years a well-kept motorcycle settles around 40-45% of the new price — far better than a bicycle.
Mileage
Normal mileage for the age is not penalised. Beyond 30,000 km depreciation accelerates, and beyond 50,000 km buyers price in clutch, chain kit and suspension work.
Condition and history
Stamped service book, invoice, both keys: up to +6%. A motorcycle needing repairs loses up to 35% of its value.
Country
The same model does not resell for the same price in France, Germany, Italy or the UK: a country coefficient adjusts the value, and comparable listings are searched on the classifieds of the chosen country.
The formula
Value = new price × category coefficient × brand coefficient × year coefficient × mileage coefficient × condition coefficient × country coefficient. The dealer trade-in price then deducts €250 of reconditioning (service, tyres, consumables, warranty).
Frequently asked questions
Does the value account for the version (A2, ABS, options)?
Indirectly, through the new price you enter: use the price of your exact version. The detailed report then compares against real listings of equivalent models.
Why does a scooter depreciate differently from a motorcycle?
Urban demand is strong and steady: a PCX, a TMAX or a Vespa resell fast. Their category coefficient is close to a motorcycle's, and premium scooter brands (Vespa) are treated as such.
My motorcycle is over 12 years old — is the value reliable?
Beyond 12 years, actual condition matters more than age: we set confidence to “medium” and recommend relying on the comparable listings in the report.
Why is the trade-in lower than a private sale?
The dealer reconditions the bike (≈€250), warranties it and carries the risk of not selling it. In exchange, the sale is immediate.
Where do the coefficients come from?
From a valuation method built in a workshop, recalibrated on resale prices actually observed (MT-07, Z650, Vespa GTS…) and on our technical documentation base.
