Accepted Answer

The TMAX has TWO belts: the CVT variator belt, replaced around 20,000-24,000 km (slipping and jerks when worn), and the final drive belt — the chain equivalent — which needs no lubrication, only tension and condition checks at services, replacement around 40,000 km or per wear/cracking. Question 4

Is the TMAX really France's most stolen bike?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the TMAX tops French theft statistics every year. Practical consequences: high insurance premiums (engraving + SRA-approved lock required), closed garage parking strongly advised, U-lock + chain to a fixed point, and a GPS tracker (some insurers require it). When buying used, scrupulously verify the history (theft/receiving) with the serial number. Find the complete answer on L'Atelier.

Question 5

What are the known issues of the TMAX 560?

Accepted Answer

Mechanically very reliable. Watch points: CVT driveline jerkiness at very low speed (normal behaviour but worse with a worn belt), battery stressed by keyless and TFT (check voltage after long stops), and fast rear tyre wear (8,000-12,000 km ridden hard). Check the parking brake operates correctly. Find the complete answer on L'Atelier.

Question 6

Does the Yamaha TMAX 560 depreciate a lot?

Accepted Answer

No, TMAX resale values are among the strongest on the market: used demand exceeds supply, especially around Paris. A well-equipped Tech MAX loses barely 15% the first year. The flip side: few bargains, and too-low prices often hide a dubious history. Find the complete answer on L'Atelier.
