Makita 18V LXT battery won't charge: 4-step diagnostic

4-step diagnostic

  1. Test chain (charger separately, contacts clean)
  2. Measure overall voltage (15V+ → recoverable, <15V → dead)
  3. Per-cell measurement after opening (each must be >3.0V)
  4. BMS reset (disconnect a cell 30s, reconnect)

Recovery cost

New cells (Samsung 30Q): 30-50€ + spot welder/skill. New OEM Makita 18V 5Ah: 80-130€.
