Brush cutter dying at idle: carburetor, air filter or air leak?

It starts, runs full throttle, but shuts off as soon as you release the trigger at idle. On a 2-stroke brush cutter, this symptom has a well-known family of causes — and it's better to work through them in order rather than randomly messing with the carburetor.
1. The clogged idle circuit
Like any 2-stroke machine, the brush cutter carburetor's idle circuit has tiny passages that clog first with oxidized fuel. Result: full throttle runs fine (the main circuit works), but at idle the engine starves for fuel and dies. Cleaning the carburetor (or the idle jet) fixes most cases.
2. The idle screw (and the L/H screws)
Most brush cutters have three screws: idle (LA/T), low speed (L) and high speed (H). If the idle speed is set too low, the engine stalls; too high, the cutting head spins (dangerous). Adjust the idle screw with the engine warm to get stable idle without the cutting head turning. Warning: don't touch the L/H screws except as a last resort, and only a quarter turn at a time.
3. The air filter
A clogged air filter enriches the mixture and makes idle unstable. This is the quickest check: remove, blow out or replace. Often overlooked, often responsible.
4. The fuel and mixture
E10 fuel kept too long or a poorly mixed blend clogs and throws off carburetion. Make a fresh mix before any carburetor adjustment — otherwise you're tuning on a false baseline.
5. The air leak
If idle stays unstable after cleaning and fresh fuel mix, look for an air leak: cracked fuel line, hardened base gasket, split intake manifold. The engine sucks unmeasured air, leans out and stalls. The brake cleaner test around the base reveals the leak (rpm changes if it's leaking).

My brush cutter runs full throttle but dies every time I release the trigger.
L'Atelier
Full throttle OK but dies at idle = carburetor idle circuit, not the engine. Order: fresh mix + clean air filter, then adjust idle screw with engine warm, then clean the idle circuit if it persists. Only touch the L/H screws as a last resort.
Describe the symptom to the mechanic AI (dies at idle, runs full throttle OK, cold or hot): it tells you what to adjust and in what order, without throwing off the whole carburetor.
