A phone is the courier's #1 tool: GPS, app, proof of delivery. But two enemies threaten it on the bars: vibrations (which destroy camera modules in the long run, especially on scooter) and rain. A good mount handles both.
The criterion that matters most: damping
Motor and road vibrations transmit to the phone. On a scooter especially, they can destroy optical image stabilization in just a few months. Look for a mount with damping (silent-blocs / shock absorber), not a bare rigid clamp. This is the investment that protects a multi-hundred euro phone.
The mount: solid and quick
- Bike: handlebar/stem mounting with screw clamp (safer than a simple clip), compatible with your bar diameter.
- Scooter: mounting on bar or mirrors, with anti-theft lock if you leave the phone.
- Quick mounting: you mount/unmount the phone dozens of times a day — one-handed system saves real time.
Waterproofing
Two approaches: the open mount (direct screen access, pair with a water-resistant phone) or waterproof case/mount (protects everything, but touchscreen sometimes less precise). In rainy areas, waterproof case prevents the app from becoming unusable.
