Every season opening, Florida kicks off the American motorcycle year with Daytona Bike Week. Born in the late 1930s around beach racing, this Daytona Beach gathering has become one of the world's largest motorcycle events, over about ten days.
What you experience there
Daytona is at once a giant street party and a sporting event:
- Main Street packed with motorcycles: bars, dealerships, entertainment, the street lives and breathes bikes from morning to night.
- The Daytona International Speedway: races and demos on the legendary oval.
- The rides: Scenic A1A along the ocean, the Ormond Scenic Loop — pleasure is also on the road.
- Expos and dealerships, heavily oriented toward custom and Harley-Davidson, the DNA of the place.
Who it's for
It's the pilgrimage of the American motorcyclist, and a travel destination for Europeans who want to experience cruiser culture at its source. The vibe matters more than technique.
