Checked on 16 October 2026: City of Paris grant on paris.fr (page updated 1 October 2026); Île-de-France Mobilités grant via the official summary published by France Travail (updated 18 June 2026). The IDFM website itself blocked our tools: run your own case through the IDFM simulator before buying.
In the Paris region, two layers of grants may apply to you: the one from Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), the regional transport authority, open to every resident with no income test, and the one from your town (Paris first, but many other towns have one). The trap is the stacking rule: adding up does not mean doubling.
The Île-de-France Mobilités grant
Amounts
| Type of bike | Rate | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| E-bike | 50% of price | €400 |
| Folding bike (with or without motor) | 50% of price | €400 |
| Non-electric cargo bike | 50% of price | €400 |
| Electric cargo bike | 50% of price | €600 |
| Adapted bike (disability) | 50% of remaining cost | €1,200 |
| Conversion kit fitted by a pro | — | €200 |
| Pedal bike for 15-25-year-olds | — | €100 |
Conditions
- Main residence in Île-de-France, aged 18+ or legally emancipated — except the pedal-bike grant, which targets 15-25-year-olds.
- No income test.
- New bike, or used bike bought from a professional: the invoice must then list the repairs and servicing carried out and a warranty of at least one year. Kits and refurbished bikes are accepted for purchases since 20 April 2023.
- Invoice less than two years old according to the official summary — but don't wait.
- Commit not to resell the bike for 3 years.
- For an adapted bike: medical proof of disability and, where relevant, refusals from other funding bodies.
The stacking rule — read it twice
IDFM asks you to apply first for your town or intercommunal grant if one exists. Then the total is capped: for an e-bike, "IDFM grant + local grant(s) = €400 maximum" according to the official summary. In other words, if your town already pays €250, IDFM tops up to €400, not beyond.
The City of Paris grant
Who qualifies
The City's bike grants are reserved for Paris residents whose taxable income per tax share (RFR/part) is €10,000 or less — except the adapted-bike grant, which has no income test. The amount is calculated on the price excluding VAT, which slightly reduces the base compared with IDFM.
Amounts
| Equipment | Rate | Cap | Income test |
|---|---|---|---|
| New e-bike | 50% of price excl. VAT | €400 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| Conversion kit (fitted by a pro) | 33% of price excl. VAT | €400 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| New electric cargo bike | 33% of price excl. VAT | €600 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| New non-electric cargo bike | 33% of price excl. VAT | €600 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| New standard bike (adult) | 100% of price excl. VAT | €100 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| Trailer / cargo conversion | 33% of price excl. VAT | €100 | RFR/share ≤ €10,000 |
| Adapted bike (reduced mobility) | 50% of price excl. VAT | €1,500 | None |
| Back-in-the-saddle course | 60% | €60 | None |
| Secure bike parking subscription | 50% | €100 | None |
Bikes must have been bought new after 15 October 2022. Important: the City states that processing of applications for refurbished bikes is currently suspended, because the certification label used until now has disappeared. If you were counting on the Paris grant for a second-hand e-bike, leave it out of your budget.
On timing, the City announces a decision in 2 to 3 weeks, then payment 4 to 6 months after approval. Plan your cash flow.
Electric scooters and motorcycles
The City of Paris page is blunt: no grant for individuals buying an electric scooter or motorbike. Since the national green bonus ended (February 2025), a Parisian switching to an electric powered two-wheeler gets nothing, from either the State or the City.
What it means in practice
The City says its grant "may be supplemented" by IDFM's. With IDFM's cap, the practical calculation for an eligible Parisian looks like this:
| Case | City of Paris | IDFM | Likely total |
|---|---|---|---|
| E-bike at €1,500 incl. VAT, RFR/share ≤ €10,000 | €400 | tops up to the €400 cap → €0 | €400 |
| E-bike at €1,500 incl. VAT, RFR/share > €10,000 | €0 | €400 | €400 |
| Electric cargo at €4,000 incl. VAT, RFR/share ≤ €10,000 | €600 | €600 cap already reached → €0 | €600 |
| Non-electric cargo at €2,000 incl. VAT, RFR/share ≤ €10,000 | €550 (33% of €1,667 excl. VAT) | IDFM €400 cap already exceeded → €0 | €550 |
| Standard bike at €300, adult, RFR/share ≤ €10,000 | €100 | no IDFM grant (except 15-25s) | €100 |
That is our reading of the two sets of rules: treat it as an order of magnitude. The point of the Paris grant is not to add up, but to cover what IDFM covers poorly (non-electric cargo, kit, adapted bike, adult pedal bike). For an e-bike or electric cargo, count on €400 or €600 in total, not double. The IDFM simulator settles your case.
Step by step
- Before buying, check your town's website for a grant (Paris or elsewhere) and its conditions — some require buying from partner shops.
- Buy from a professional and get a detailed invoice in your name (make, model, serial number if possible). For a used bike, the invoice must state the servicing done and a warranty of at least one year.
- Get the e-bike's type-approval certificate (standard NF EN 15194) or the bike's certificate of conformity.
- Gather: ID, recent proof of address, bank details (RIB), latest French tax notice (Paris).
- File the town application first. In Paris: the "Aides financières à l'écomobilité" online service via your Mon Paris account.
- Then the IDFM application, online on the IDFM portal. Digital help is available at local access points and France Services offices.
- Keep the bike for at least 3 years and keep the paperwork.
