When it comes to bicycles, the show that sets the year's tone isn't French: it's Eurobike, in Germany. This is where the innovations in frames, groupsets, e-bike motors and components are revealed—the ones you'll find in shops the following season.
A Show That Became the Standard
Eurobike was held for decades in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance, before moving to Frankfurt-on-Main to gain more space. It takes place in summer (late June / July) and combines a trade section (brands, dealers, press) with public days.
Its strength: density of innovation. From transmissions to electric motors, from cargo bikes to gravels and components, you'll see in one place what will be on bikes in the coming years.
What You'll See
- New groupsets and transmissions: electrification, wireless, new standards.
- E-bikes in all forms: motors, batteries, cargo bikes, urban bikes and mountain e-bikes.
- Components: wheels, brakes, suspensions, tyres—often the first place to spot trends.
- An innovation award (Eurobike Award) that highlights the year's standout products.
How to Make the Most of It
- Check the public days: part of the show is for trade only; the rest opens to the public.
- Target your brands and categories before you go: the show is vast.
- Note what interests you to compare later at your leisure—new products announced often arrive in shops a few months down the line.
- Frankfurt is very accessible by train and plane: easy to combine with a trip.
