Two schools

Shimano Hollowtech II: 24mm axle, threaded into the bottom bracket shell via right/left cups. Standard since 2003.

SRAM GXP: 24/22mm axle (left smaller), single bearing shouldering the axle. SRAM standard until DUB.

Torque values

Hollowtech II BSA cups: 35-50 N·m SRAM GXP BSA cups: 34-41 N·m GXP central bolt: 48-54 N·m
