A puncture means a lost delivery, an upset customer, and 20 minutes standing on the sidewalk. For a courier, reducing flats isn't comfort: it's protected income. Here's what works, from most effective to pure gadget.
1. Reinforced anti-puncture tyre (best value)
This is the king solution: a tyre with protection belt (anti-perforation layer under the tread). "Delivery / intensive use" models handle urban glass and debris. Trade-off: slightly heavier and a bit less rolling resistance — negligible next to time saved without flats. Look for the right section (wide enough for pavement and loads) and durable rubber.
2. Tubeless with sealant (excellent if your bike is compatible)
No inner tube, with preventive liquid that seals small punctures instantly. Very effective in urban use, provided rims and tyres are tubeless-ready and you refill the sealant regularly (it dries). Takes some setup initially, but real comfort afterward.
3. Puncture strip (patch, not miracle)
A strip inserted between tyre and tube. Blocks some fine punctures, but adds weight and doesn't protect against clean cuts. Useful as backup when you can't change tyres right away — not as primary solution.
