The Paris Motorcycle Show is the must-attend event of the fall for all powered two-wheel enthusiasts. The 2026 edition, held at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, promises an avalanche of new models. Here's an overview of expected launches and trends that will shape the year.
Major Premieres Expected
Honda: Massive Renewal
Honda is expected to present the new generation CB750 Hornet, with a completely redesigned twin-cylinder engine to meet Euro 5+ standards. The CRF300L should also receive an update with a new TFT dashboard and smartphone connectivity. Rumors also point to a mid-displacement trail bike based on the Africa Twin platform.
Yamaha: The Electric Offensive
Yamaha has announced the launch of its E01 electric range for Europe. The 125cc-equivalent electric scooter should be presented in production form. On the combustion side, the MT-09 could receive a significant evolution with a new chassis and electronics derived from the R1.
BMW: More Tech Than Ever
BMW Motorrad continues its premium strategy with the new R 1300 GS Adventure and its latest driver assistance systems: adaptive radar, semi-active electronic suspension, and 10.25-inch TFT screen. The Bavarian manufacturer should also unveil a surprising electric concept.
KTM: Mid-Displacement Assault
KTM is pushing hard in the 490cc segment with the Duke 490 and Adventure 490, strategic models for the A2 license market. The 490cc LC4c twin produces about 55 hp and weighs under 170 kg: an ideal power-to-weight ratio for new riders.
Euro 5+ Impact
The Euro 5+ standard (effective from 2025) imposes stricter emission thresholds and level 2 on-board diagnostics (OBD-2) on all new motorcycles. In practice:
- Reprogrammed injection systems
- Larger catalytic converters (sometimes adding weight)
- Mandatory OBD connectivity for technical inspections
- Development costs passed on to prices (~500-800 EUR increase)
Electric Motorcycles: Finally Credible?
The 2026 show should mark a turning point for electric motorcycles. Beyond Yamaha, several manufacturers are presenting viable models:
- Energica: the 2026 Experia promises 260 km real-world range
- Zero Motorcycles: the SR/F now reaches 320 km (mixed cycle)
- LiveWire (Harley-Davidson): the S2 Mulholland targets the neo-retro segment
The main barrier remains price (often > 15,000 EUR) and fast-charging infrastructure, still insufficient for motorcycle touring.
