Real service prices at a shop

A "service" covers very different work. Here are the price ranges found in France in 2026, excluding parts:

ServiceAverage priceWhat's included
Express tune-up£20 to £35Gear + brake adjustment, inflation, quick check
Standard service£40 to £70Tune-up + transmission cleaning + torque checks
Full service£70 to £125Standard + bearing removal, brake bleed, full inspection
E-bike service£65 to £140Service + electrical diagnostic (sensors, battery, updates)

Parts (chain, brake pads, cables, tyres) are almost always extra. A chain replacement costs 12 to 27 € in labour on top of the part itself.

Why two quotes can be very different

The same bike might cost £47 at one shop and £100 at another. Three reasons: the service level offered isn't the same, parts replaced "as a precaution" vary, and hourly labour rates range from 27 to 55 €/h depending on region and shop type.

This is why it's worth knowing what your bike actually needs before walking in. A chain at 0.5 % wear doesn't need replacing; at 0.75 %, it does. See when to replace your bike chain.

Before any quote, do this free pre-diagnosis:

If you know what's wrong, you order the right service and avoid unnecessary extras.

Describe your symptom to the AI before you pay

Unsure between "tune-up" and "full service"? Describe your bike and what you're experiencing (noise, soft braking, gears slipping) to L'Atelier's mechanic AI. It tells you what's probably wrong, the repair level needed, and whether it's a 5-minute job or a real workshop visit. You walk into the shop knowing exactly what to ask for, or you fix it yourself.

For more: repair it yourself or go to a shop and the complete maintenance calendar.
