Tractor: preparar la máquina para labores de otoño

Autumn is heavy workload season

Plowing, stubble cultivation, harvest transport: the tractor works hard and often in wet conditions. A few checks before the season prevent breakdowns during operations.

Checks before work

ItemCheck
HydraulicsLevel, leaks, cold response, filters
TiresPressure suited to load, wear, ballasting
FiltersAir (field dust), diesel, cabin
CoolingLevel, condition of radiator (straw/dust)
PTO / power take-offShaft, guards, lubrication
Brakes / steeringPlay, effectiveness under load

1. Hydraulics It's the heart of ground work. Check the level and absence of leaks. A slow response when cold can signal oil/filters near end of life — see our hydraulics diagnostics article. The lift must hold the load without sagging.

2. Tires and ballasting Adjust pressure to load and work type (low pressure = better traction on soft ground, but respect manufacturer minimums). Check ballasting for plowing. An underinflated tire on road transport wears and heats up.

3. Filters and cooling Fields = dust. The air filter clogs quickly (check the indicator). Clean the radiator core (straw, dust) to prevent overheating under load.

4. PTO and hitches Grease the power take-off shaft, check guards (safety!), and condition of 3-point hitches before attaching heavy implements.

5. Preheating / cold start Autumn brings cold mornings. Test the glow plugs: difficult starting signals tired preheating plugs.
