QJMotor SRK 700 vs Yamaha MT-07: the Chinese bike has left the catalogue, so what to buy in 2026?

When the QJMotor SRK 700 arrived in France in 2023, the pitch was simple: a 73 hp twin, radial brakes and a low seat for €700 less than a Yamaha MT-07. Three years on, the landscape has changed. The MT-07 was fully renewed in 2025 (new chassis, ride-by-wire, traction control, a Y-AMT version with automated gearbox) and Yamaha France now covers it for 5 years. And the SRK 700 no longer appears in QJMotor France's catalogue as of October 2026: the importer's naked range jumps straight from the twin-cylinder SRK 600 to the four-cylinder SRK 800. Check the current UK line-up with the UK importer.

So this comparison answers two questions: is a used SRK 700 worth it against an MT-07? And new, what's the alternative to the Yamaha?

On the road: what the tests say

  • SRK 700: the Italian magazine InSella's test (2024 version) praises an engine that "revs quickly and pulls smoothly at all speeds", a bike that's "easy, lively and agile" when changing direction, and braking among its best qualities, powerful and progressive. The criticisms: more weight than the Japanese bikes, a basic 4-inch screen, no traction control and components "a little less refined than the Japanese". Verdict: plenty of substance at an aggressive price, with a little less finish.
  • MT-07 (2025): the new generation keeps the CP2, one of the decade's most loved engines for its mid-range torque, and gains full electronics (traction control, modes) and a connected TFT. It remains the lighter bike of the two. The Y-AMT version offers an automated gearbox without a clutch lever, for €500 more.

The Japanese reference duel, against Kawasaki, is in Yamaha MT-07 vs Kawasaki Z650.

New: the SRK 700's successors

If you want a new QJMotor in 2026, here's what the French importer's catalogue offers:

The SRK 600 is €2,100 cheaper than the MT-07 but gives away 17 hp and 13 Nm: it's a more natural rival for the Kawasaki Z500 or Honda Hornet 500. The SRK 800 plays a class above (a 95 hp four) for €600 more than an MT-07: it's aimed at a Honda Hornet 750 or a well-equipped Kawasaki Z650, with a radically different engine character. Neither is a like-for-like replacement.

Servicing

Valve clearancesAs per book40,000 km

For the SRK 700, the book handed over at delivery is what counts; we found no reliably published manufacturer schedule. General rules and things to watch are in QJMotor SRK 700: technical review. For the MT-07, intervals and useful torque settings are in Yamaha MT-07: servicing and key points.

The most important thing on a used SRK 700 isn't mechanical: it's support. The model is no longer in the catalogue, and in France QJMotor has been distributed since 2024 by SIMA, which at the end of 2025 had a conciliation agreement with its banks approved by the Dijon commercial court. Nothing points to a problem for customers, but before buying, ask a QJMotor dealer how long a few common parts take (lever, indicator, mirror, pads). The subject is covered in parts, warranty and dealer network for Chinese motorcycles.

Reliability: what's documented

  • SRK 700: no QJMotor recall in the French RappelConso database at the time of writing (check the DVSA recall lookup for UK bikes). The few owner reports mostly concern minor electrical and finish issues. That's lack of hindsight more than proof of reliability.
  • MT-07: the CP2 has a solid reputation over more than ten years of production and hundreds of thousands of bikes. The 2025 generation is too recent to judge its chassis and electronics over time.

Value and resale

Dealer listings on the French site Motoplanete (October 2026):

ListingMileageAsking price
QJMotor SRK 700 20253,000 km€4,999
QJMotor SRK 700 2025 (nearly new)152 km€6,499
Yamaha MT-07 20247,241 km€6,400
Yamaha MT-07 20251,345 km€6,999
Yamaha MT-07 Y-AMT 20252,200 km€6,799
Yamaha MT-07 202019,311 km€4,890

A one-year-old SRK 700 with 3,000 km is listed at around 69% of its launch price; a 2024 MT-07 with over 7,000 km at around 80% of a new one. Two listings don't make a valuation, but leaving the catalogue doesn't help: a model no longer sold new is harder to resell, for lack of visibility and dealers keen to take it in part-exchange. Conversely, a six-year-old MT-07 is still listed near €4,900: it's one of the bikes that hold their value best. The general mechanism is in how much a motorcycle loses per year.

Verdict by profile

  • You want a recent used bike for under €5,000 and keep bikes a long time: a low-mileage 2025 SRK 700 is a lot of bike for the money, provided you've checked parts availability near you and accept a harder resale.
  • You're buying new: the MT-07. Lighter, better equipped than before, a long warranty and one of the most solid values on the market. On a tight budget, the new SRK 600 at €5,899 is the Chinese alternative, with less power.
  • You want more power for the same budget: the SRK 800 at €8,599 offers a 95 hp four, but it's a different, heavier bike with a different character.
  • You'll sell in two or three years: the MT-07, no question. The 4-year calculation is in Chinese or Japanese motorcycle: the total cost.
